The Panagbenga 2013

It is that time of the year again when people from Baguio City as well as from other parts of the country and the world for that matter would wait for the launching of Baguio’s Panagbenga Festival. The Panagbenga 2013 is set to be launched by the the City Mayor on November 5, 2012 at the Baguio City Hall.

The Panagbenga 2013 is said to be having the theme “A Blooming Odyssey” this is why the 18th Baguio Flower Festival is going to be a myriad of activities and events that would incorporate both creativity and adventure. Where such is made possible by taking several activities from the previous Flower Festival where such is added with different twists and turns to make it a lot more exciting.

The Panagbenga 2013 Schedule

As of today of course there are still no word on what different activities are lined up for the celebration of Panagbenga 2013. However, following the traditional schedule of the different highlights of the Baguio Flower Festival, on February 1, the Grand Opening Parade is going to be held as well as the competition for the drum and lyre category, where several participants will have the right to join in the Grand Float and Grand Street Dancing Parade. The two crowd drawers of the Panagbenga Festival the Grand Float and Street dancing parade is scheduled usually on the last weekend of February in this case it would be on February 23-24, 2013 and by tradition the Grand Street Dancing Parade is on February 23 while the Grand Float Parade is on February 24. Another much awaited event the Session Road in Bloom is usually held on the last week of February and sometimes goes through the first week of March. Following the calendar the Session road in bloom will fall on February 25 to March 3 where the latter is also going to be the Closing Day for the Panagbenga 2013 and this is where we also would be witnessing the Grand Fireworks Display.

Indeed a lot of people are already waiting for the 18th Year of the Panagbenga Festival, a quick advice to our friends from different parts of the world. If you are planning to witness the Panagbenga 2013 and would stay in Baguio City for several days you should book your accommodations early, as per experience, since we would like to have a bird’s eye view of the Grand Float and Grand Street Dancing Parade we booked a hotel room at session road December even then the rooms are almost fully booked for February.
