Panagbenga 2015 Grand Float Parade
Baguio City Blooms Anew During The Grand Float Parade
The streets of Baguio City was once again flocked by spectators who anticipated this year’s Panagbenga 2015 Grand Float Parade. Visitors from different provinces came up to Baguio City not only to watch the Float Parade that was once compared with the tournament of roses, but also to enjoy the cool weather while doing so. Some of the spectators were already saving their spot as early as four in the morning. By seven in the morning the sidewalks at the parade route were already full of people, a testament that Panagbenga hasn’t lost it’s “colors”.
Across 20 Years, Blossoming Together
The float parade was led by the City Government of Baguio’s float which bears the names of not only Baguio City but also the nearby municipality of La Trinindad, Itogon, Sablan,Tuba and Tublay which composed of what is called the BLISTT area. It is because of the cooperation of the City of Baguio and these municipalities that Panagbenga grew to be what it is now. As well as the fact that it was not only Baguio City that benefited from the annual celebration of the Panagbenga festival but these municipalities as well. This is why the theme for this year is “Across 20 years, Blossoming Together”.
Floats, Floats and More Floats
Every year the participants of the float parade never ceases to amaze the audience as they built the best flower floats they can. The much anticipated Baguio Country Club float design took a page out of the movie “How to train your Dragon” with Toothless the Dragon as the main centerpiece. Another float that caught our attention was the NLEX “Clown or Circus Float” which was accompanied by some PBA Stars for the NLEX Roadwarriors, Asi Taulava was very generous to give some of the audience to take a photo with him. The yearly float from Casino Alcohol again left the audience in awe with their giant birds float with their “warrior” riders.
It was not only the floats that gave this years parade that amazing wow factor, the winners of yesterday’s street dance competition also performed and they gave a performance that equaled their previous performance during the contest. The performances drew applause from the audience and leaving them wanting for more.
Overall the Grand float parade still lived to its name as one of the biggest crowd drawer, although it lacked the “star power” that the previous float parade had as it is noticeable that there are few celebrities riding the float, still that did not take away the fact that many of the audience enjoyed this years Panagbenga 2015 Grand Float Parade.
